Frank McCarthy’s career started in New York City, where he cut his teeth on adventure magazines like Argosy and True,
and later movie posters for popular titles such as The Great Escape, The Dirty Dozen and several James Bond films. In
1975, McCarthy abandoned the East Coast and ventured to Sedona, Arizona, where he painted Western scenes for the
remainder of his career. In addition to his action scenes and dramatic compositions, the artist was also quite skilled at
painting the rocks and vegetation of the Southwest, which is on clear display here in Warrior’s Return.
