About William Herbert Dunton

Dunton moved permanently to Taos in 1912, drawn by the region’s light, landscapes, and Indigenous culture. His paintings are known for precise detail, especially in clothing, equipment, and horse anatomy, capturing the disappearing lifestyle of the Old West. Throughout his career, he received commissions from prominent collectors and created murals, lithographs, and solo exhibitions, cementing his legacy as a chronicler of the American West.
