Additional Information

Beeler studied at Art Center in Los Angeles before working as an illustrator at the University of Oklahoma Press in Norman. His successful one-man show at the Gilcrease Museum in 1960 launched his fine art career. Beeler is a classical Western artist and his paintings delve into his growing up in the Osage Country of the Missouri-Oklahoma border where he was fascinated with drawing cowboys, Indians and horses. The Ambush is a subject matter that Beeler would return to many times throughout his career.
