Indian artifacts he found beside the Little Miami River in Ohio kindled Fritz White’s interest in the traditions and beliefs of Native Americans. White felt the presence of the past, what he called the saga of the American Indian. As a consequence, he studied voraciously. This passion for research permeates his art, and earned him membership in the Cowboy Artists of America in 1972. The powerful musculature of the archer in In Search of the Snow Goose recalls works by masters like Paul Manship and George de Forest Brush.
