In Dick & Dutch, a double portrait of sorts, Bob Abbett shows why he is considered one of the greats of American sporting art. Keen anticipation and joy, as well as a kind of pride seems to swell in both the hunter and his dog as they head out into the dawn of a dark, ducky sort of day. The chop on the water and the imminent winter clouds are the tell that lets you know that the wind will drive the birds in and down.
