Jim Norton (1953-2023) was a member of the Cowboy Artists of America since 1989. Norton was born in Price, Utah but spent most of his youth in Western Wyoming. It was here where Norton gained his love and knowledge of ranch life. Norton attended Brigham Young University where he received instruction from artists William Whitaker and Conrad Schwiering. At the 2010 CAA show, he received the Stetson CAA Award for his body of work and a Gold Medal for Oil Painting for his work titled the lifetime. Norton was best known for his detailed depictions of historic and modern life in the West. Sadly, Norton passed away last year.
